Pokémon GO’s November tentpole is back, and this year it is doing two things at once. It is staging citywide in-person events in Sendai, Japan, and Mexico City from November 6 to 8. Then, on November 14 and 15, it opens a global weekend that anyone with the app can play from a sidewalk at home.
The headline for ticket holders in those two cities is the one fans have been asking about for years: Hisuian Sliggoo and Hisuian Goodra finally enter Pokémon GO. They debut in the wild at the in-person events, Shinies included, and they do not travel with the Global weekend a week later. That split is the story. Everything else — Dynamax Dialga, Dynamax Palkia, Mighty Pokémon, GO Safari Balls, a Machamp in a modern jacket — is the party built around it.
What Wild Area Actually Is Now
Wild Area sits in the calendar the way GO Fest sits in July and GO Tour sits in February: a destination event with a worldwide coda. After Nagasaki hosted the first in-person Wild Area last year, 2026 expands the map. Sendai’s playable zone covers the city and stretches into Miyagi Prefecture and parts of the wider Tohoku region. Mexico City’s playable zone is the metropolitan area, not a fenced park.
Hours are the same in both cities: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time each day. A one-day ticket is required. Sendai tickets are ¥4,000. Mexico City tickets are MXN$350. Sendai used a short registration window in mid-September before purchase; Mexico City sold tickets on the usual first-come storefront. Add-ons can extend play to a second day and stack raid, egg, and particle bonuses. The Global ticket is optional and priced at US$11.99. You can play the Global weekend without it. You just get less research, fewer Incense pulls, and a thinner Shiny rate.
The type pairing this year is Steel and Dragon. Habitat hours rotate through the day — Solid as Steel on the even hours, Daring as Dragons on the odd ones — so the wild pool keeps flipping instead of sitting on one spawn table for eight hours. That is the mechanical reason the event feels denser than a Community Day. It is also why the Hisuian line can hide in either hour without breaking the theme. Hisuian Sliggoo is Steel/Dragon. It belongs on both sides of the poster.
The Goo Is In-Person Only
Ticket holders in Sendai and Mexico City can encounter Hisuian Sliggoo in the wild during either habitat hour. A lucky encounter can be Shiny. Evolution takes 100 Goomy Candy. There is no rain requirement, no special item, no Hisui-only stone. Catch it, feed it, and Hisuian Goodra is in the box the same afternoon.
That is a clean debut on paper and a frustrating one if you live in Chicago. Official materials are explicit: the Hisuian line is an in-person exclusive for this event. The Global weekend does not add it. History says the pair will land worldwide later — Hisuian forms usually do — but Niantic and Scopely Explore have not published that date. Until they do, the slime is a souvenir.
Wild Area is trying to be a reason to travel, not just a reason to open the app. GO Fest already learned that remote raids and global habitats can flatten the difference between being there and watching a stream. Putting a long-requested regional form on the ground, with Shiny available day one, is the old theme-park logic: you had to be in the park. Whether that still works in 2026 is a separate argument. The design choice is not subtle.
Dynamax Dialga and Dynamax Palkia Are the Shared Prize
If the goo is the exclusive, the legendaries are the peace offering. Dynamax Dialga and Dynamax Palkia make their Pokémon GO debuts at Wild Area — first in Sendai and Mexico City, then worldwide. On the Global weekend the schedule is split on purpose: Dynamax Dialga in Max Battles on Saturday, November 14; Dynamax Palkia on Sunday, November 15. Both can be Shiny.
That split matters for anyone planning a single-day raid binge. You do not get both on one calendar day in the Global event. In-person cities run both across the three-day window. Max Particle caps rise to 1,600 per day during event hours, which is the number you actually need if you intend to stand at Power Spots instead of spinning Gyms for Raid Passes.
Dialga and Palkia are not new to the game. Regular, Origin Forme, Shadow, and Shiny Shadow versions have already had their tours. What is new is the Dynamax kit: Max Moves, Power Spot timing, and a catch that only counts as Dynamax if you take it from a Max Battle. For PvE players who skipped Galar’s Max season, this is the first time the Sinnoh time-and-space pair shows up at that scale.
Mighty Pokémon, Safari Balls, and Two Dragons on Incense
Mighty Pokémon return for Wild Area. They are wild encounters with inflated stats and a bad habit of fleeing. GO Safari Balls — exclusive to this event, earned from PokéStops and Gym Photo Discs — exist because ordinary Great Balls bounce off them. Some Mighty species carry extra moves. The lineup rotates by day and by city. Mexico City’s published list includes a local exclusive, Mighty Hawlucha. Costume Machamp in a modern jacket appears as a Mighty in the wild for ticket holders at the in-person events and in three-star raids everywhere.
Ticket holders also get Mighty Latias and Mighty Latios on Incense. Daily Adventure Incense does not count. Regular Incense does. Official copy warns that the duo is quick to flee, which is another way of saying pack Safari Balls before you tap the incense button. Shinies are possible. On the Global weekend, that incense bonus is a ticket perk, not a freebie.
Routes can spawn Mighty encounters during event hours. That is the indoor-friendly hook: you do not have to live on top of a dense Gym cluster to see the mechanic. You do have to walk a Route, which is still the most underused system in the game and the one Wild Area keeps trying to justify.
What the Global Weekend Actually Gives You
November 14 and 15, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time, worldwide. No ticket required to participate. Free bonuses include GO Safari Balls from stops and gyms, up to three free Raid Passes per day from Gym Photo Discs, the 1,600 Max Particle cap, boosted odds on event Field Research, Mighty Pokémon on Routes, and three GO Snapshot surprise encounters per day with Steel- or Dragon-types.
The US$11.99 ticket adds a branching Special Research story — Steel path or Dragon path, each with its own medal — extra Incense encounters, better Shiny rates, and the Latias/Latios incense lure. Trainers who already attended Sendai or Mexico City can still buy the Global ticket and pick up that research. Costume Machamp stays in three-star raids both days. Habitat hours follow the same Steel/Dragon rotation as the live cities.
What Global does not give you is Hisuian Sliggoo. Repeat it until the group chat believes it. If your only goal is the Hisuian line, November 14 is the wrong weekend.
The Rest of the Fall Calendar Is Not Quiet Either
Wild Area is the November headline. It is not the only Pokémon news on the board. Twilight Trails, the current Pokémon GO season, opened September 8 with Mega Squads: Maschiff and Mabosstiff debuted, Shiny Flamigo arrived, and Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom became the first Pokémon eligible for the new Super Max Mega Level. That level unlocks an extra Charged Attack while Mega Evolved. It is a small systems change with a long tail. Every future Mega that gets the Super Max treatment becomes a different attacker than the version sitting in your storage now.
This week, September 16–22, the game runs a Pokémon Horizons: The Series celebration. Charmander wearing Friede’s goggles debuts, with its evolutions in tow. Kecleon rates go up at PokéStops. U.S. viewers can watch Horizons Season 3 — Rising Hope on Netflix while the event is live. Dynamax Rhyhorn is the Max Monday boss as of September 14. Zamazenta rotates into five-star raids midweek.
Outside GO, The Pokémon Company is still in a 30th-anniversary stretch. Asia’s PokéXciting city series is moving from Kuala Lumpur in September toward Taipei in October and Singapore on November 7–8 — the same weekend as Wild Area’s in-person dates, which is either scheduling chaos or a gift if you are already in the region. Pokémon Champions, the new competitive title, is adding Z Mega Evolutions this month after a Worlds closing-ceremony tease. None of that changes who you catch in Sendai. It does explain why November feels crowded.
How to Play It If You Are in the United States
Most U.S. trainers will treat this as a two-day Global event, not a flight. Buy the $11.99 ticket if you want Latias/Latios on incense and the Steel-or-Dragon research. Skip it if you only care about Dynamax Dialga on Saturday and Dynamax Palkia on Sunday. Clear bag space before Friday night. Safari Balls do not help if you have 48 of 50 slots filled.
Plan Max Particles on Thursday and Friday so the 1,600 cap is not wasted on the first Power Spot. If you want both legendaries, block both days. There is no catch-up Max Battle on Monday. Jacket Machamp is a three-star raid, which means it is soloable for anyone who has been playing since 2018 and a decent candy dump for everyone else.
If you are actually going to Mexico City or Sendai, the Hisuian hunt is the first two hours, not the last. Habitat hours rotate. Sliggoo can appear in either pool. Do not save the goo for Sunday and then discover your flight is at 4 p.m. Mighty Latios and Latias want incense plus Safari Balls plus a friend who will not talk while you throw. The cities are the event. The parks are not fenced. Play like you would play a GO Fest city weekend: water, battery, and a meetup pin that is not in the middle of a crosswalk.
The Honest Read
Wild Area 2026 is a well-built event with a slightly cynical exclusive. Dynamax Dialga and Palkia are real debuts. Mighty Pokémon plus Safari Balls are a better wild-endgame than another incense hour. Jacket Machamp is a joke that will photograph well. Hisuian Goodra is the thing people will argue about in December, when the rest of the world still does not have it and the people who flew to Sendai have already evolved a Shiny.
That argument is older than this event. Pokémon GO has spent a decade deciding how much of the game should be local. Wild Area’s answer in 2026 is: the new dragon is local. The time-and-space gods are not. Clear November 14 and 15 either way. Bring incense. Leave a slot for slime if you can get on a plane.
