After fifteen years, BABYMETAL is entering its next chapter — with history fully intact.
The group’s journey hasn’t been without transition. In 2018, original member YUIMETAL officially departed due to health reasons, leaving a visible absence during a crucial growth period. Rather than rushing to replace her, BABYMETAL spent several years performing with rotating support dancers known as the “Avengers,” allowing the group’s identity to evolve organically instead of forcing a reset.
That evolution reached clarity on FOX DAY 2023, when MOMOMETAL was officially introduced as a permanent member. Previously one of the Avengers — and known to many from Girls Planet 999 — MOMOMETAL’s transition felt earned rather than abrupt. Her first official appearances, including live performances of Mirror Mirror and a newly released anniversary version of Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! featuring her vocals, marked not just a lineup update, but a sense of stability returning to the group.
Now, that renewed formation leads directly into BABYMETAL’s 15th anniversary in 2026, backed by their 2025 album Metal Forth — a Billboard Top 10 debut featuring collaborations with Spiritbox and Poppy. The anniversary world tour spans Europe, North America, and Asia, includes major festival appearances like Impericon Festival, and even a confirmed U.S. arena show in late 2025.
With a new era solidified, a massive tour underway, and expansion into gaming collaborations in 2026, BABYMETAL isn’t revisiting the past. They’re proving that longevity, when handled with patience and intention, can still feel like momentum.
