BLACKPINK’s upcoming mini-album ‘DEADLINE’ has reportedly leaked weeks before its official February 27 release, triggering backlash over its short tracklist and circulating songs. Despite controversy, the project has surpassed 1.1 million Spotify pre-saves, highlighting the group’s continued global dominance.

In a highly anticipated yet controversial return, K-pop powerhouse BLACKPINK is set to release their third mini-album, DEADLINE, on February 27, 2026, marking their first group project since 2022’s Born Pink. The album, featuring five tracks including pre-released single “Jump” and previously leaked songs “Me and My Girls” and “Champion,” has sparked intense debate among fans following the confirmation of the tracklist on February 5. While the group—comprising Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—continues to dominate global charts, the leaks and short tracklist have divided their dedicated fanbase, BLINKs.

The controversy erupted when songs that circulated online, leading to widespread disappointment over the lack of fresh material. Fans expressed frustration on social media, with many criticizing the tracks’ quality and lyrical content, such as perceived misogynistic tones in “Me and My Girls.” Extreme reactions included calls for the group to “please disband,” as highlighted in viral posts and media coverage.

One X user lamented, “Blackpink’s album leaked and it’s a corny mess. The album is shit and it’s what blink deserve,” while another noted, “they are mad because blackpink’s whole “album” has been leaked already and nobody likes the songs.”

In response to the leaks, some BLINKs have urged fellow fans to avoid listening to the unauthorized audio and to report accounts spreading the material to YG Entertainment, the group’s agency. “I knew this would happen… people just can’t let blackpink have shit… anyway not listening to anything on here,” shared one fan on X, emphasizing the need to preserve the official release’s integrity.

Others echoed this sentiment, advising, “log off if you don’t wanna hear it!” to prevent spoiling the experience.

Despite the negativity, not all reactions are pessimistic. Some fans believe the leaks won’t significantly impact overall support for BLACKPINK, given the group’s massive global following and history of chart-topping success. “The pinks don’t care about this album so why should we… this era had been a mess since the tour announcement,” one user posted, suggesting resilience among core supporters.

Additionally, a subset of the fandom speculates that the leaks might be intentional, designed to generate buzz and heighten anticipation. “They want it leaked,” claimed one commenter, pointing to YG’s handling of pre-shipped albums as evidence of a strategic move to stir conversation ahead of the drop.

The rollout has also drawn criticism for its perceived laziness, including a minimalistic tracklist poster and album cover dubbed the “worst of all time” by some, further fueling dissatisfaction with the four-year wait for new music.

As debates rage on platforms like X, Facebook, and Reddit, the album’s February 27 release—coinciding with Bruno Mars’ new project—remains a focal point for K-pop enthusiasts.Amid the uproar, BLACKPINK continues to shatter records. DEADLINE has surpassed 1.1 million pre-saves on Spotify, becoming the second most pre-saved K-pop project on the platform’s top 10 countdowns chart and surpassing Stray Kids’ “DO IT” (1.08 million), solidifying the group’s enduring commercial dominance.
