n this video, we’re taking a look at the life and work of Jose Rizal, the Philippines’ first national hero. Rizal is well known for his novels and poems that critique Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines.
But what many people don’t know is that Rizal also wrote about priests raping women. This was controversial at the time, and led to Rizal’s execution in public in 1906. In this video, we’re exploring the context of Rizal’s writing and how it relates to his later death.
