For two nights, BTS turned London into the center of the music world.

The group’s ARIRANG World Tour stop at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium drew approximately 130,000 fans across two sold-out shows, with around 65,000 attendees each night. According to promoter Live Nation, the concerts set the highest attendance per show since the stadium opened in 2019, making it the biggest concert event in the venue’s history on a per-show basis.

But the record inside the stadium was only part of the story.

Across London, BTS wasn’t simply performing concerts. They became a cultural event that spread from sports venues and museums to Korean cultural institutions, tourist attractions, and businesses, creating one of the largest citywide K-pop activations the United Kingdom has ever seen.

Another Historic Chapter for BTS in London

For BTS, London has become a city where history keeps repeating itself.

In 2019, they became the first Korean act to headline Wembley Stadium, a milestone that redefined what was possible for K-pop on the global concert stage.

Seven years later, they returned to write another chapter.

This time, BTS conquered Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, selling out both nights almost immediately after tickets went on sale and setting a new attendance benchmark for the stadium.

Even before fans entered the venue, the excitement was impossible to miss.

Tottenham Hotspur embraced the occasion across its official channels, describing BTS as “Pop Royalty.” The club’s Korean-language account even welcomed fans by sharing video of the stadium blasting “SWIM,” the title track from BTS’s fifth studio album ARIRANG, throughout the venue before the concerts.

London Became “BTS THE CITY”

The takeover extended far beyond the stadium.

As part of the BTS THE CITY campaign, HYBE partnered with London’s cultural institutions to transform the concert weekend into an immersive celebration of Korean culture.

One of the flagship collaborations came through the British Museum, where visitors could experience the Korea Gallery Trail, connecting Korean history and heritage with the themes explored throughout ARIRANG. Rather than functioning as a traditional exhibition, the experience invited visitors to reflect on Korean culture through artifacts, storytelling, and the album’s messages of hope, resilience, and belonging.

Nearby, the Korean Cultural Centre UK hosted “BTS THE CITY ARIRANG in London,” a weeklong program that attracted fans from around the world.

The event was expected to welcome roughly 2,800 visitors, with every reservation filling in just two minutes.

Visitors traveled from countries including France, Germany, Brazil, Singapore, Qatar, the Czech Republic, China, and the United States, turning the cultural center into an international gathering place for BTS fans.

More Than a Concert

Inside the Korean Cultural Centre, visitors explored exhibitions, music, fashion, and Korean traditions inspired by BTS.

The centerpiece was “Iconic Looks,” an exhibition displaying seven stage outfits worn by the members during previous world tours, including their historic 2019 Wembley performances. The costumes were designed by Kim Jones during his tenure at Dior Men’s and marked the luxury house’s first concert wardrobe created specifically for a male pop group.

Another highlight was the Connect Lounge, where fans gathered to watch BTS music videos on giant screens, sing together, perform choreography, and recreate the atmosphere of a concert.

Guests also experienced hanbok fittings, Korean art displays, interactive photo zones, and multilingual message walls filled with notes written in English, Korean, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, and many other languages.

Some international fans even shared that BTS had inspired them to begin learning Korean, allowing them to write their own messages in Hangul during the event.

A Stadium Spectacle

Inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, BTS delivered the kind of production critics described as cinematic.

The concerts opened with “Hooligan,” before moving through new songs including “NORMAL” and “Body to Body,” alongside global hits such as “IDOL” and “FIRE.” Massive stage effects, elaborate choreography, live vocals, fireworks, and a fully immersive 360-degree production transformed the stadium into a spectacle visible from every seat.

Reflecting on their return to London, the members told fans they had been reminded of their emotional Wembley concerts seven years earlier.

“We’re feeling once again the emotions we experienced at Wembley seven years ago. Because of your incredible passion, we had such an amazing time today. It brought back so many memories, and it reminded us once again just how passionate London really is.”

Critics Declared BTS Had Reclaimed Their Throne

The concerts were met with widespread acclaim from the British press.

Rolling Stone UK awarded the performance a perfect five-star review, comparing the concerts to a “coronation” and writing that BTS had “reclaimed their throne as the biggest band in the world.” The publication praised the show as a masterclass that rewarded fans who had waited years for the group’s return.

The Guardian also awarded five stars, calling the production an “astonishingly entertaining spectacle” that blended cinematic visuals, fireworks, and ambitious staging while highlighting the group’s extraordinary command over an audience.

The Times gave the concerts four stars, praising the stadium-scale production, special effects, and the explosive audience reaction during performances of “MIC Drop” and “FYA.”

Meanwhile, NME highlighted something different: BTS’s integration of traditional Korean music, architecture, and dance into one of the world’s biggest pop productions, arguing that the group showcased Korean cultural identity without compromising global appeal.

More Than Box Office Success

The London stop demonstrated that BTS’s impact extends well beyond ticket sales.

Few artists can fill stadiums. Even fewer can transform an entire city into an extension of the concert itself.

Museums, cultural institutions, sports organizations, tourism, and fans from dozens of countries all became part of the same experience, illustrating how BTS concerts increasingly function as cultural festivals rather than standalone performances.

With London now behind them, BTS will head to Allianz Arena on July 11 and 12, where they are set to become the first Korean act ever to headline the stadium, adding yet another milestone to their record-breaking ARIRANG World Tour.
