Stray Kids is following the footsteps of legendary acts like Jane’s Addiction. They are now building an entire festival ecosystem around themselves.

JYP Entertainment and Live Nation have officially announced “STRAYCITY,” a brand-new music festival headlined by Stray Kids at every stop.

And this is important because this is not being positioned as a normal concert tour. It is being built like a scalable festival brand — something closer to a traveling cultural event than a single artist performance.

Historically, some of the world’s biggest festivals actually started because of artists themselves or artist-driven movements. Lollapalooza was originally created in 1991 by Jane’s Addiction as a farewell tour before evolving into a global festival brand. Mayhem Festival was heavily tied to bands from the metal scene itself. Even artist-curated festivals like Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival by Tyler, the Creator showed how musicians could expand beyond touring and build their own cultural ecosystems.

So far, three Latin American cities have been confirmed.

The festival kicks off in Bogotá on September 9, moves to Buenos Aires on September 14, and then heads to Mexico City on September 25.

JYP also confirmed that more cities are expected to be added later, which suggests this could become a long-term global franchise rather than a one-time experiment.

Another interesting detail is the lineup structure.

JYP rookie group NEXZ will perform at all three stops, while local artists from each country are also being integrated into the festival. That includes artists like Andrés Obregón, RENEE, Bad Milk, Kei Linch, K4OS, and Cocho.

K-pop companies are increasingly moving beyond the old model of simply “bringing a concert overseas.” They are now trying to embed themselves directly into local music ecosystems and audiences.

The timing makes sense.

Touring has become one of the most important revenue drivers in the global music industry, but the competition is also getting more intense. Fans now expect experiences, not just performances. Festivals create longer engagement, more sponsorship opportunities, stronger social media visibility, and a bigger sense of cultural participation.

JYP described STRAYCITY as a platform where fans can “awaken a hidden alter ego” and discover a new side of themselves — clearly leaning into the rebellious, chaotic, high-energy identity that Stray Kids has built over the years.

And the name itself is clever.

“Stray Kids” was already one of the strongest identity-driven group names in K-pop. “STRAYCITY” expands that concept into an actual world fans can enter physically.

Stray Kids is building expandable entertainment universes — tours, festivals, fan platforms, documentaries, pop-up cities, branded experiences — all designed to keep fans inside the ecosystem longer.

And STRAYCITY may end up becoming JYP’s newest attempt at exactly that.
