“This isn’t a goodbye. It’s just… once in a blue moon.”

With those poetic words, The Rose announced they’re wrapping up a decade together in the most fitting way possible: one final full-circle chapter before stepping back. Shortly after, the band dropped their emotional lead single “Blue Moon” on April 13, 2026, and unveiled the Rosetopia World Tour schedule. The global run kicks off June 5, 2026, in New York and will sweep across North America, Mexico, Brazil, and Europe through August, before heading to Asia — including a highly anticipated stop in Manila.

For Black Roses (their devoted fandom), this feels like both celebration and a heartfelt exhale.

A Decade of Rocking the K-Scene

The Rose — Woosung (vocals/guitar), Dojoon (vocals/multi-instrumentalist), Taegyeom (bass), and Hajoon (drums) — started as an indie band under J&Star Company before officially debuting in 2017. Their breakthrough single “Sorry” hit like a quiet storm: emotive rock balladry with raw vocals, lush instrumentation, and lyrics that actually felt something. Billboard called it one of the best Korean pop songs of 2017 and named the band one of the top 5 Korean breakout artists to watch in 2018.

They followed with fan favorites like “Back To Me,” “She’s In The Rain,” and deeper cuts that showcased their self-produced sound. Unlike the hyper-polished idol machine, The Rose leaned into alternative rock, vulnerability, and live energy. They weren’t just another K-act — they were carving space for real bands in a dance-heavy industry.

Impact: Healing Through Music, Global Black Roses

The Rose’s impact runs deeper than charts. Their music became a soundtrack for healing — fans often credit songs with helping them through mental health struggles, breakups, and tough times. Tracks blend Korean and English effortlessly, making them accessible to international listeners while staying true to their roots. They’ve sold out world tours, played major festivals like Lollapalooza and Coachella, and even landed on the Billboard 200.

They represent the quiet resurgence of K-rock. In an era dominated by high-energy performances, The Rose proved that emotional depth, live instrumentation, and authentic storytelling still resonate powerfully with global audiences.

The Label Battle That Changed Everything

Success came with thorns. In early 2020, the band filed a lawsuit against J&Star Company, citing lack of payments, breakdown of trust, and an overly rigorous schedule that took a toll on their well-being. It was a bold, public stand — rare for artists at the time. After a lengthy dispute, they settled in 2021 and gained independence.

They formed their own label, Windfall, and have operated as a fully independent act since. This autonomy allowed them creative freedom but also meant handling everything themselves — from production to touring logistics. It made their journey even more inspiring: a true underdog story of artists fighting for their art and their future.

Why the Hiatus? “A Moment to Breathe”

After 10 years of grinding, global tours, military service interruptions (Dojoon enlisted in 2020), and building everything from the ground up, the decision for an indefinite hiatus feels earned. In their announcement, they shared:

“After this, we will be taking a break. Not as an ending, but as a moment to breathe… to grow… and to find ourselves again, individually. So that one day, we can come back to you with even more to give.”

They’re preparing their forthcoming album ROSE (details still TBA) as the perfect send-off before the break. Rosetopia isn’t framed as a farewell tour in the dramatic sense — it’s more like a victory lap and a loving promise of future reunions.

Stay Tuned for Manila

Black Roses in the Philippines (and across Asia) are buzzing. The Manila date will likely be one of the most emotional stops, packed with fans who’ve supported them through every chapter.

Whether you’ve been here since “Sorry” or just discovered them through “Blue Moon,” this era feels special. The Rose didn’t just make music — they built a community around honesty and rock spirit in a pop world.

This isn’t the end. It’s just once in a blue moon. Catch them while the moon is still shining bright. 🌹
