The stages were the size of the argument. By 28 August, Jennie had already played the new songs for crowds that were not built as K-pop rooms: Governors Ball, Roskilde, Open’er, Mad Cool, Lollapalooza Chicago, Summer Sonic. She closed Lollapalooza’s Bud Light stage with an 18-song set. “Less Than a Lover,” “Heaven,” and the title track were live inventory before they were chart inventory.
That is the bar the EP inherited. Ruby had put five singles on the Hot 100. The Tame Impala remix of “Dracula” was still on that chart, peaked at No. 5, when the new music arrived. After a historic festival run, the bet was another conversion from stage heat to mass listening.
What Jennie released was three tracks — eight minutes and fifty seconds — that won the optics platforms and stalled on the listening ones. Worldwide iTunes. YouTube trending. Apple ranks across Asia. Then a first Spotify week that did not look like Ruby, and two new songs that never cleared the Hot 100. “Less Than a Lover” is the only cut with a real singles-chart body. The title track is a visual event with almost no Billboard footprint.
First week is first week. A quieter, shorter project was never going to score like an album cycle or a radio-and-TikTok smash. The festivals happened. The question is whether they widened the US streaming and radio panel the way Columbia, Odd Atelier, and the Alta deal were built to do.
How Fallen Angel Was Supposed to Chart
Fallen Angel arrived 28 August as three digital tracks: the title song, “Heaven,” and the 24 July pre-release “Less Than a Lover.” A six-song CD with “Sweettooth,” “Lockitdown,” and “Face” is due 30 October.
The commercial bet was straightforward. Summer stages had already done the marketing. The songs were familiar to festival crowds before they were familiar to the Hot 100 panel. A quieter, shorter project could still open like a second-act single cycle if the live run had widened the audience.
The Festival Run Behind the Release
In 2026 she played ComplexCon Hong Kong, then headlined Governors Ball, Roskilde, Open’er, Mad Cool, Lollapalooza Chicago, and Summer Sonic. She was the first female K-pop soloist to headline most of those bills. New songs were in the set before they were on streaming: “Less Than a Lover,” “Heaven,” “Fallen Angel,” “Lockitdown,” “Sweettooth.” Lollapalooza on 1 August closed the Bud Light stage with an 18-song set. If festival exposure converted cleanly into a first week, this was the cycle that should have shown it.

What the EP Actually Did
The clean win was digital sales optics. Fallen Angel debuted at No. 1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, the first K-pop solo EP or album to open there in 2026, and entered the US iTunes Top 15. Apple Music album ranks were strong across Asia: roughly No. 2–5 in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and China. The “Fallen Angel” video hit No. 1 on YouTube’s trending music list and cleared 10 million views quickly. In China the project was reported as an all-kill across QQ, NetEase, and Kugou. The first streaming week was smaller.
On Spotify day one, the three tracks combined for about 4.5 million unfiltered streams: “Heaven” 1.60 million, “Fallen Angel” 1.51 million, “Less Than a Lover” 1.41 million that day. On the Spotify Global daily chart, only two songs landed, and not the title track: “Heaven” at No. 150 and “Less Than a Lover” at No. 196. “Fallen Angel” missed Global.Korea was polite, not dominant. “Fallen Angel” peaked at No. 101 on Circle. “Less Than a Lover” did better at No. 17.
Less Than a Lover and Fallen Angel, Side by Side
| Song | Released | KOR | Global 200 | US Hot 100 | Other US | First-Week Spotify |
| Less Than a Lover | 24 Jul | 17 | 26 | — | Bubbling Under 7 | ~12.2M |
| Fallen Angel | 28 Aug | 101 | — | — | — | ~7.6M |
| Heaven | 28 Aug | — | — | — | — | ~6.1M |
“Less Than a Lover” is the EP’s real record. It peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Global 200, No. 1 in Hong Kong and Taiwan, No. 2 in Singapore, No. 3 in Malaysia, No. 17 in Korea. In the US it missed the Hot 100 and opened at No. 7 on Bubbling Under — the equivalent of about No. 107. It also missed Billboard Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales.“Fallen Angel” has almost no major singles-chart footprint outside Korea’s No. 101 and local Spotify and Apple ranks in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Korea. There is no Hot 100, no Global 200 entry, no Bubbling Under listing in the public recaps.
Ruby Singles on the Charts
| Song | KOR | Global 200 | US Hot 100 | UK | First-Week Note |
| Mantra | 3 | 3 | 98 | 37 | Lead single; Global top 3 |
| Love Hangover (feat. Dominic Fike) | 35 | 29 | 96 | 64 | Third Ruby Hot 100 entry |
| ExtraL (feat. Doechii) | 42 | 18 | 75 | 37 | Highest Hot 100 peak from Ruby |
| like JENNIE | 1 | 5 | 83 | 36 | 68.4M worldwide streams in week one (Billboard Global 200) |
| Handlebars (feat. Dua Lipa) | 68 | 21 | 80 | 41 | Debuted on the Hot 100 with the album |
All five Ruby singles reached the Hot 100. “like JENNIE” is the album’s commercial center: Korea No. 1, Global No. 5, and 68.4 million streams worldwide in its first Billboard week. “Mantra” is the strongest Global peak from the album. “ExtraL” is the highest Hot 100 peak among the Ruby cuts.
The Collaborations: One of the Girls, Spot!, and Dracula
| Song | Year | Role | KOR | Global 200 | US Hot 100 | First-Week / Debut Note |
| One of the Girls (The Weeknd, Jennie, Lily-Rose Depp) | 2023 | featured | — | 10 | 51 | Later climbed after a Bubbling Under start |
| Spot! (Zico feat. Jennie) | 2024 | featured | 1 | 24 debut | — | 47M Global 200 streams and 5,000 downloads in week one |
| Dracula (Tame Impala with Jennie) | 2026 | remix / featured | — | 2 | 5 | Slow-burn hit; peak came months after the February remix |
These are the records the new EP was being measured against. One of the Girls became her streaming monster over time. Dracula is her highest Hot 100 peak and was still on that chart when “Less Than a Lover” arrived and stopped at Bubbling Under. Spot! remains her cleanest Korea No. 1 as a featured artist.
| Best Global | Best Hot 100 | Best Korea | First-Week Marker | |
| Ruby | Mantra / like JENNIE (3 / 5) | ExtraL (75) | like JENNIE (1) | like JENNIE, 68.4M worldwide streams |
| Fallen Angel | Less Than a Lover (26) | none (BU #7) | Less Than a Lover (17) | Less Than a Lover, ~12.2M Spotify |
| Collabs | Dracula (2) | Dracula (5) | Spot! (1) | Spot!, 47M Global 200 streams |
The First Week Is the Fair Comparison
First-day Spotify for “Less Than a Lover” on 24 July was about 2.3 million eligible streams, or about 3.1 million unfiltered. Its first full Spotify week was about 12.2 million. “Fallen Angel” and “Heaven” did about 7.6 million and 6.1 million in the first week after 28 August. That is the launch, not a multi-month total.Set against “like JENNIE,” which opened the Global 200 on 68.4 million worldwide streams, the new cycle is a different scale. Festival previews did not produce a Ruby-sized first week.
The Hot 100 Threshold She Did Not Clear
There is no fixed stream count that qualifies a song for the Billboard Hot 100. The chart is US streams, sales, and radio. “Less Than a Lover” was eligible in the first full tracking week after 24 July. It did not enter the Hot 100. “Fallen Angel,” released 28 August, also has not appeared on the Hot 100. Dracula remained on the actual chart while both new songs missed it.
Columbia, Odd Atelier, and the Alta Deal
This was not a small independent drop. Columbia still partners with Odd Atelier. In July 2025 Jennie became the first management signing at Alta Music Group, co-managed with OA. Alta was founded by Jeremy Erlich after he left Spotify, where he was global head of music — not CEO, but one of the most senior music executives at the largest streaming service. The pitch was a streaming-native operator, US infrastructure, and a self-owned Korean company keeping creative control. Ruby proved the model could deliver a Billboard 200 top 10 and five Hot 100 singles. Fallen Angel is the first test of whether that same stack can sell a quieter project to a festival-expanded audience. Early returns say the stack moved iTunes and Asia harder than it moved America.
Why the Miss Stings
The festival argument cuts both ways. The songs were road-tested in New York, Chicago, Madrid, Poland, Denmark, and Japan. Clips circulated of her record breaking festival run, with the cros allegedly singing her songs bar for bar.
That should have flattened the usual K-pop-to-West conversion problem. Instead, US radio and US streaming barely moved. The audience that showed up at Lollapalooza did not show up in the Hot 100 panel the way Dracula’s short-form and radio run did.
What the First Week Actually Says
Fallen Angel is not a disappearance. It is a format mismatch. Three soft, short tracks after a maximalist album and a genre-crossing smash remix were always going to chart differently. Festival headlines create heat. They do not automatically create US radio or the repeat US streams Billboard counts.“Less Than a Lover” is a respectable international single that stopped one rung short of the Hot 100. The title track is a visual event with a thin chart body. The physical EP in October can still change the sales story. It will not rewrite the first week: about 12 million Spotify streams for the lead single, under 8 million for the title track, no Hot 100, and a Global peak that sits well below Ruby and Dracula. The stages got bigger. The first week did not.
