BTS and the ARMY are hoping to snag a Grammy nomination for BTS in the 2020 Grammy Awards. BTS’s management company, Big Hit, already submitted their intent to be nominated. Unlike other award giving bodies, Grammy winners are determined by voting. Members of the Academy vote for the winners but membership is by invitation only. BTS and Big Hit Founder and Producer, Bang Si Hyuk are members of the Academy.

Considering there isn’t a good possibility that Music Academy members understand Korean, this already presents a big barrier to BTS’ nomination and win.

The Grammy is also known for snubbing boybands. Watch and listen to an honest assessment of BTS’ chances to win a Grammy award.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Neither Boyz 2 Men nor Milli Vanilli is classified as a boyband but they are the closest to a boyband who won a Grammy. Milli Vanilli was classified as a hiphop duo and Boyz 2 Men is a vocal group. The Beatles started out covering songs of other artists. However, they have fully eclipsed their beginning. Thus, no one calls them a boyband.

Iko Uwais’ rise to Hollywood is as organic as organic can get. He didn’t bombard social media with his selfies. He was literally discovered because of his martial arts mastery and he deserves every bit of success. That’s why people are even more critical with every movie he makes. The Raid introduced as new fighting style and a new way to look at action films.
Headshot is a fitting follow up. Iko plays Abdi or Ishmael, an assassin who is suffering from amnesia and is forced to confront his past in order to save his present.
The question is whether or not Iko topped The Raid or is this one of those movies that is just hanging on the tail of The Raid’s greatness. Is Headshot worth watching?

Maria, a Philippine action movie, is easily a triumph and loss for Philippines cinema. After Fernando Poe Jr. passed, he seemed to have taken the action genre with him because there has been a scarcity of action movies in the last decade but Maria is a gem and also a little sad. It has, probably, the cleanest and most fluid action sequences but it’s sad to think about the fact that it does not offer something unique in an international level. We could have used Arnis or Eskrima, a martial arts truly our own.
